The Urinal Project
A Sanitation Solution to Crises in the Middle East
In refugee camps and IDP situations, people have either a long commute to a public sanitation facility or are lacking sanitation facilities altogether.
By providing them with a unisex urinal that collects and stores the urine, they can use the urinal in the privacy and convenience of their tent. This reduces the risk of attacks on women and children, especially during the night.
The urine is collected and stored in holding tanks, which after a 90 day period will be reused in agricultural production, tree nursery production and kitchen gardens for the refugees.
